I picked up my first dog brush in 1990 and fell in love with grooming. In 1991 I enrolled in the ROP Program for Veterinary Assistant. I wanted to know more about cats and dogs and things to watch for as a groomer and be able to tell my clients things about their pet's health that they may not have noticed. Within the first 2 weeks into my training program I was hired on as a Veterinary Technician for Rancho San Diego Animal Hospital. I did some grooming but primarily I worked with the exotic and wild animals as well as cats and dogs. I have worked with chimps, bobcats, eagles, snakes, lizards, arctic foxes, coyotes, raccoons, all kinds of birds of prey, turtles, etc. It was an unforgettable 6 years of experience. In 1996 I took a job managing and grooming at a large boarding facility. This is where I really honed my grooming skills. I apprenticed under the owners, who where know worldwide for their incredible grooming skills. In 2001, I decided it was time to have a place of my own. Enter Cat & Doggie Works!

In 2005, I met a wonderful man (thank you match.com!), Chris, who just happened to be a Groomer too! Our relationship bloomed, and in 2006 he sold his mobile grooming business and we started Cat & Doggie Works #2. On 7/7/07, Chris and I married. We have a wonderful life that we share with our german shepherd, Moose and our 6 cats, Major, Monrowe, Piggy, Scoobie, Caspurr and Louie.

I started my career with dogs, while driving a cab in Escondido CA. One day a young woman named Kim, introduced me to the world of dog grooming, you might say grooming found me. I had been picking up Kim and her two dogs for a month. Her car was in the shop, and you guessed it, she was a groomer. One day she threw me a brochure about a grooming school. A year and a half later after schooling, and a stint with a major grooming company, I started my own mobile dog grooming business. Six years went by and chance would have it that I met a wonderful woman on line through match dot com. Guess what, she was a groomer, and two years after our first email, Crystal asked me out. What a smart gal. We fell in love, and I asked her to be my wife February 14th, 2007 over steaks at the Charcoal House in La Mesa. She said yes and we were married at Mt. Helix by our cousin Mark on 7/7/07. We opened Cat & Doggie works #2 grooming, and self serve dog wash not long after I sold my mobile grooming business in Escondido. So here we are having a great time taking care of your pets, hopefully for years to come. Thanks to all of your pets for getting as dirty as possible just for us.

I was born and raised in San Diego. I graduated from Chula Vista High and enrolled at the PIMA Medical Institute, in their Veterinary Assistant Program. I completed the 8 month course with a 4.0 and received my certification as a Vet Assistant. I started working for a grooming/pet supply shop in La Jolla, this is where I was taught the art of bathing & brushing and the basics of animal care. A couple of years and a few jobs later In 2006 I found Cat & Doggie Works. I knew right away that this was going to be more than a job; I had found an extension of my family. 2 years later and one beautiful son, Jaden, I still love it and I enjoy coming to work everyday and have FUN!
